How to know what I can and cant delete/uninstall on my computer?

  • I want to do a major cleanup since i have programs and files i dont even recognise. How can i avoid deleting something important?


  • Sounds stupid but google it. ( I mean google every program before deleting it)

    If you go to "Add/Remove programs" in your control panel you will see a list of programs that you can uninstall. These are not windows components they are third party programs.

    You should know from your own experience which programs you use and which you do not, so delete these.

    When it comes to files, again I would say google any files you do not recognise. I once wondered why I had a 2Gb file on my hard drive called "hiberfil.sys" turned out it was a copy of what was in my memory (I had 2gb ram) for when the computer hibernates.
